Institute of Microbiology (IMB)

The working group of apl. Prof. Dr. Andreas Stolz at the Institute of Microbiology is primarily concerned with extraordinary metabolic performances of microorganisms. In this context, the construction and application of recombinant microbial whole-cell catalysts for the production of optically active chemicals as well as the characterisation of bacterial dioxygenases have been the focus of interest in recent years. In a more recent research focus, the application of bacteria for the production of ‘biobeton’ is being investigated.
